Hello! My name is Cheryl Hwang. And I love telling stories. Whether it’s writing, TV, or in the Metaverse.

I'm a news enthusiast who found interest in TV journalism watching South Korean broadcasts when I lived there sporadically in my youth.

I have been nominated for two Crystal Pillar Awards from the Upper Midwest Emmy Chapter. I have previously worked at NTV News (KHGI) as a bureau reporter in Grand Island, Nebraska; a bilingual (Korean-English) segment producer at KBC News Magazine in Chicago; a multi-talented producer & on-air/ digital reporter at KXRM FOX 21 News in Colorado Springs, and as Morning News Producer in Denver at Fox31/ Channel 2.

I am currently a TV Personality on Denver’s #1 morning lifestyle show “Great Day Colorado”.

The Sewol ferry incident coverage by Son Suk-Hee at JTBC News and the team's diligent work to uncover the unjust perspective of the South Korean public as well as the bigger governmental problem was inspirational for me. I want to mirror great journalism like this in the lifestyle sphere (I know, tricky task).

I also have a special place in my heart for entertainment shows that are also educational. I used to watch Korean game shows that incorporate intellectual expertise or educational experiments that were influential to my education of the world.  I hope to be able to produce shows that have a similar impact on others as it did on me.

My goal is to pioneer the digital space of storytelling… as there is so much we don’t know! There is so much potential to engage with the audience and tell a more compelling story in a more compelling method. I have been an early believer of the YouTube space, and other social media platforms to capture an audience. And starting to learn the possibilites in Web 3.0.

Some of my favorite U.S. documentary shows are: This is Life by Lisa Ling, Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, 20/20, and The Today Show.

In my free time, I love telling stories so much… it’s all I do. I have my own podcast that I try to keep up with…. I love watching documentaries, and listening to podcasts.

Non journalism realated stuff I like: Dance, Singing, learning guitar, trying new health foods, fitness!
